Opening Function for Mathematical Sciences Postgraduates
The Opening Function for Mathematical Sciences Postgraduates will be held on Friday 5 February 2010. The workshop for new postgraduates is from 2.30pm-4.30pm in room 3021 of the Van der Sterr building. There will be tea in the tea room from 2pm for those who come early enough. The social for all postgraduates is from 5-6.30pm on the lawn at SACEMA, where snacks and drinks will be provided. If you are coming to the social, you can either walk with the group from the workshop (we will leave at about 4.40pm from the front of the maths department) or you can go directly to SACEMA. (See map below.) You need to go in the side entrance by the wooden gates, where you ring the intercom and Natalie Roman will let you in. If you're driving a car, park it round the back (see the map). Remember, we will be on the lawn, so if you bring a picnic blanket it will be handy. Also remember the theme: "my favourite mathematician / applied mathematician / computer scientist".
