The Biochemical Pathways to Disease theme constitutes the SACEMA-affiliated SARChI group, led by Prof Jacky Snoep. The Snoep Lab’s core research efforts are in Computational Systems Biology; a combined experimental, modelling and theoretical approach to quantitatively understand the functional behaviour of Biological Systems resulting from the characteristics of their components.

Within the Biochemical Pathways to Disease theme, the projects focus on among others, working toward predicting effective drug targets for treatment of malaria and TB and developing a mechanistic understanding of the onset of non-communicable diseases, including Type II diabetes and hypertension.
